Teenager dead after ‘assault between two groups’ in Kelowna, B.C., RCMP say

Authorities are investigating an assault in Kelowna, B.C., that left an 18-year-old dead over the weekend.

The teenager was found critically injured following reports of an “assault between two groups” near Springfield and Benvoulin roads, the Kelowna RCMP said in a news release Monday.

The victim was rushed to Kelowna General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Few other details have been confirmed. Kelowna RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit is “actively investigating the circumstances leading up to the death,” the detachment said.

While the investigation is in its early stages, authorities said the assault appears to have been targeted.
