Shooting victim ‘arrived’ at Kelowna hospital over the weekend, police say

Authorities are investigating after a shooting victim “arrived” at Kelowna General Hospital over the weekend.

The man was admitted to the hospital in the early morning hours Sunday with “non-life threatening injuries from gunshot wounds,” Kelowna RCMP said in a news release Monday.

A subsequent investigation led officers to a home on Asher Road, where the RCMP said an Emergency Response Team was “engaged.”

A spokesperson for the Kelowna detachment said he could not provide any further information on whether the shooting victim was taken to hospital in an ambulance or by other means, or whether anyone was arrested during the ERT incident.

In a statement, Cpl. Michael Gauthier did confirm investigators believe the shooting was “targeted,” and that there is no ongoing threat to public safety.

The RCMP asked anyone with information on the incident to call the Kelowna detachment’s Serious Crime Unit tipline at 250-470-3236 and reference file number 2025-3237.
