Timmins murder suspect arrested in southern Ont.

A man wanted for a fatal shooting in Timmins late last year has been arrested in Ajax, Ont.

Desean Prince Wesley, 18, was wanted for first-degree murder in connection with a shooting death that occurred Nov. 5, 2025, in the area of Fifth Avenue and Cedar Street North just after 8 p.m.

“Two victims sustained gunshot wounds in this incident,” Timmins police said in a news release April 17.

“One of the victims was transported to the Timmins and District Hospital where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.”

The second victim, D’Andre Dearine of Toronto, died at the scene of the shooting.

Wesley was arrested by officers with the Timmins Police Service’s criminal investigation division and returned to Timmins.

“Timmins police is extremely appreciative not only of the manpower and technical support offered to them by Durham Regional Police Service, but their willingness to provide all resources needed to effect this arrest safely and without incident,” police said.

Wesley is being held at the Ontario Court of Justice ahead of a bail hearing Friday.
