Cyclist airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries after Abbotsford, B.C., crash

A cyclist is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a crash in Abbotsford, B.C., Sunday night.

Police officers and paramedics were called to South Parallel Road, just east of Whatcom Road, at around 10 p.m. after a woman was hit by a car while cycling in the area, the Abbotsford Police Department said in a statement Tuesday.

The 32-year-old woman was airlifted to hospital, police said.

The driver and passenger of the car, a grey Chevy Avalanche, remained at the scene and have since been co-operating with investigators. While impairment isn’t believed to be involved in this case, police are looking into poor lighting conditions in the area as a potential factor in the crash, the statement said.
