Drug trafficking investigations lead to arrests, thousands of dollars in seizures in Kelowna

Mounties say early June saw significant progress in the investigation of an alleged drug trafficking network, leading police in Kelowna to multiple arrests and thousands of dollars in seizures.

A Friday news release from the Kelowna RCMP explains that officers executed multiple search warrants in Kelowna and West Kelowna on June 2 and 3, in what police are calling “the culmination of a months-long investigation.”

“The investigation focused on disrupting and dismantling a significant drug trafficking network operating within the community,” police said.

In those two days, three people were arrested and “several others were detained” as part of the investigation, according to the Kelowna RCMP, who say these searches resulted in the seizures of $55,000, four vehicles, five kilograms of what they’ve called “suspected illicit drugs,” 15 kilograms of a “cutting agent to dilute fentanyl for distribution,” and what police have estimated to be $230,000 in jewelry and fashion items.

Police say everyone detained or arrested on June 2 and 3 has been released, but add that investigators are “preparing disclosure materials for submission” to prosecutors for charge assessment.

Mounties have said this isn’t the end of their investigation into the alleged drug trafficking network operating in Kelowna.
