Two children found safe after being reported missing

Two children have been found safe after their mother reported them missing, sparking a city-wide hunt by police.

The children -- a boy and a girl -- were dropped off at two separate schools in the Don Mills and Sheppard Avenue area on Monday morning, according to Toronto police Const. Tony Vella.

Shortly afterwards, the children’s mother received a call from both schools saying her children couldn’t be located.

Police said the children were believed to be with their father who is estranged from his wife. Police asked the public to look out for a Hondo Civic.

OPP later confirmed that officers spotted and stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver west of Toronto shortly after midday.
