RCMP lay charges in connection to fatal 2022 crash near Prince Albert

Prince Albert RCMP have made an arrest in connection to a fatal collision that claimed one life back in 2022.

On April 4, 2022, Prince Albert RCMP responded to a crash involving a car and truck at the intersection of Highway #263 and Okema Beach Road – approximately 50 kilometres northwest of the city.

The driver and sole occupant of the car was declared dead at the scene. He was identified as a 64-year-old man from the Prince Albert area.

The truck involved in the crash was abandoned at the scene. Investigators believed the driver had fled the area on foot. Officers later discovered that the truck was previously reported stolen out of Leask, Sask. a day prior to the crash.

On July 23, 2025, investigators finally laid charges in connection to the incident.

A 29-year-old man from Sturgeon Lake First Nation is charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, one count of failing to stop after an accident resulting in death and possessing property obtained by crime over $5,000.

The accused is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Prince Albert on July 30.
