STARS Home Lottery customers in Sask. not impacted by website breach

Personal and financial information from thousands of Saskatchewan residents was not compromised after a data breach to the company that runs the STARS Home Lottery, STARS says.

Last week, the Full House Lottery in Edmonton notified customers that their website had been breached three separate times between January 29 and May 5. The third breach happened on May 5, and Full House Lottery says credit card information could have been compromised.

Full House Lottery’s secure online checkout is run by Stride Lottery Management out of Calgary, who also handles 9 other lotteries, including the STARS Home Lottery in Saskatchewan.

STARS Home Lottery tells CTV News that no personal information of any of its customers was impacted during the breach.

“The safety and security of our ticket buyers is our utmost priority.” Mark Odin, Communications Lead for STARS told CTV News on Tuesday.

STARS Home Lottery sells 154,000 tickets and 402,750 tickets for the 50/50 draw. It is not clear how many of those tickets are sold online.
