A man has been arrested after police say they seized a large quantity of illegal cannabis and unstamped tobacco after a traffic stop near Goffs, N.S. An RCMP officer was conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 102 around 10:18 a.m. on Thursday when they spotted a pickup truck with front-tinted windows. When the officer pulled the truck over, they noticed several cases of unstamped tobacco in the vehicle and arrested the driver for possession of unstamped tobacco. “In a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers seized the unstamped tobacco, including approximately 60,000 cigarettes and 17,000 cigars, along with illegal dried and edible cannabis,” said the RCMP in a news release Monday. Police also seized the vehicle, a 2022 Dodge Ram 1500, under the Excise Act. The 38-year-old driver from Millbrook is facing charges under the Cannabis Act, Excise Act, Revenue Act and Criminal Code. He was released on a notice to appear in court at a future date. “The investigation is ongoing and is being assisted by the Nova Scotia Alcohol, Gaming, Fuel and Tobacco Division,” said the RCMP.
