Sask. invests over $800K to support policing positions in Moose Jaw

An investment from the provincial government and SGI will provide support for six policing positions in Moose Jaw.

Through the Municipal Police Grants program, $836,000 will support two positions with the Police and Crisis Team (PACT) and four positions with the Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan (CTSS), according to a news release from the province on Friday.

PACT pairs officers with mental health professionals to connect people with the care they need and CTSS works to prevent collisions and fatalities by focusing on proactive road safety enforcement.

“The Moose Jaw Police Service plays an important role in delivering strong and reliable policing in the city, and our government is proud to continue supporting their work,” Corrections, Policing and Public Safety Minister Tim McLeod, K.C. said in the news release.

Two of the four CTSS positions are funded by SGI with a $360,000 investment, the province said.

“Funding for both PACT and CTSS allows us to strengthen two critical areas of public safety - mental health response and traffic enforcement - making a real difference in the lives of our residents,” Moose Jaw Police Service Chief Robert Davis said in the release.

Saskatchewan’s government will be supporting 160 municipal positions in nine municipalities through the municipal grants program in 2025-26. The program has funded policing initiatives and police services across the province since 1998.
