Winnipeg police have a man in custody after multiple homes and a local high school had windows smashed. Officers were called to the Crescentwood area around 6:30 a.m. Saturday after receiving several calls about a man breaking into homes and a school in the 100 block of Kingsway. Police said six homes and the school had bricks and rocks thrown through windows and glass doors, and in some of the incidents, a man confronted residents, threatened them, and stole items. When officers arrived, police said the man was seen walking down the street with a broken liquor bottle in his hand. Police stopped him and he was arrested. Investigators note these were all random incidents, as the victims did not know the man. No one was physically hurt and it’s believed total damage costs are around $25,000. A 35-year-old man has been charged with seven counts of break and enter, assault with a weapon, uttering threats and failing to comply with a release order. He remains in custody and none of the charges have been tested in court.
