The Saskatchewan government offered CP Rail 300 acres of free land to build an intermodal facility at Regina’s Global Transportation Hub, according to documents obtained by the CBC.

The NDP opposition says the public has a right to know how much the land given to the rail company was worth.

"How can the premier justify making Saskatchewan people pick up the tab for yet another Sask. Party corporate handout?" NDP Leader Trent Wotherspoon asked Monday.

The government released a document from 2007 showing that the NDP were willing to spend up to $33 million to get the GTH going.

"When the New Democrats were still in government, there were initial amounts set aside that would allow this project go ahead," said Premier Brad Wall.

There has been no precise accounting of how much the government has spent on the GTH to date, but the government says those figures will be tabulated and made public as quickly as possible.
