NeeDoh toy craze on TikTok fueling high demand at Regina toy shops

Needoh sensory toys are trending on TikTok, driving high demand in Regina stores where shipments are selling out within minutes.  Jacob Carr has the story.

The uber popular Needoh toys that have gone viral on TikTok with trends like ‘Needoh Hunting,’ are now nearly impossible to find in Regina due to sky high demand.

TWB Home Decor in Emerald Park received a small shipment of Needoh toys in mid-April and sold out within minutes, and in the middle of a snowstorm to boot.

“Everyone’s all about them. But I placed this order over two months ago, I didn’t get my full order in and there was a line up here like 40 minutes before we even opened,” TWB Home Décor co-owner Stephanie Sokochoff told CTV News.

Other stores that carry Needoh products, like Zippity Zoom Toys in Regina, are seeing a similar trend.

The toys are flying off the shelves in the blink of an eye.

Zippity Zoom employee DJ Bosehe said at a recent launch of Needoh products, people were lined up at 6:20 a.m. even though the store doesn’t open till 10 a.m.

“We have a ridiculous amount on order right now and it’s just kind of trickling in. We literally have about 300 little, tiny bags in the back right now that are ready for people to pick up,” Bosehe said.

Needoh toys have been around since 2017. However, the craze can surely be attributed to trends on TikTok.

The fidget toys are also great for people of all ages who need something to keep their hands busy.

“My son has one that he keeps in his pocket that he’ll sometimes fidget with just to kind of keep themselves occupied without disturbing everyone around them. I have adults that have said they have them on their desk at work, and they kind of play with them when they just need to kind of expel some energy as well,” Sokochoff explained.

“I think our oldest customer, she bought it for her mom, who I believe was 103 years old,” Bosehe said. “So, it’s just an amazing thing - and toys, they never go out of style.”
