Montreal public health is warning of a person who visited several locations in and about the city, “while contagious” with the measles. People who visited the following locations may have been exposed to the virus: Measles is a highly contagious disease, more so than the flu or COVID-19, that spreads through small droplets of respiratory secretions that can remain suspended in the air. Symptoms can include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes and general malaise. “If you are protected against measles, you are unlikely to contract the disease,” public health explains. “It is still important to monitor for the onset of measles symptoms until the date indicated.” Click here for a list of all locations where a potential measles exposure may have taken place in Quebec. Am I protected? In Quebec, people are protected if they were born: Additionally, any person who has already had the measles, with proof (medical certificate or blood test), is considered protected. If you are not protected and have symptoms of the disease, public health recommends: If you need to go to a clinic or hospital, wear a mask and alert them in advance. Upon arrival, immediately tell a staff member that you may have the measles.
