RCMP have issued a public notice that lockdown drills will be taking place Tuesday at the Rocanville School and Whitewood School. The drills will be taking place the morning and afternoon of Tuesday, and also involve other local emergency services. Police stress the drill is not an emergency. “We are advising our media partners of the preplanned exercise due to the increase police presence and emergency personnel around the school and in the towns of Rocanville and Whitewood. There is no risk to public safety,” RCMP said in a news release. The release went on to say the drills are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen emergency preparedness through the School Action for Emergencies (SAFE) program. RCMP say questions on lockdown drills or school protocols should be directed to school divisions.
