Man charged with arson in connection to Regina condo fire

Regina police have charged a man with arson after a condo unit fire. Investigators say the blaze was deliberately set.

A 43-year-old man has been accused of starting a fire at a Regina condo complex earlier this year.

Mark Levesque has been charged with arson with disregard for human life in connection with a blaze that happened in the 300 block of Angus Street, according to a police news release sent Wednesday.

Regina police officers and fire crews responded to the fire on Feb. 27 around 5:45 p.m.

Upon arrival, firefighters saw one unit fully engulfed in flames.

A subsequent investigation by Regina Fire and Protective Services (RFPS) determined the fire was not accidental.

“The Regina Police Service, in conjunction with RFPS, continued the investigation. Officers identified the person responsible for starting the fire in a manner that demonstrated a reckless disregard for human life,” the release read.

Levesque made his first court appearance on Tuesday.
