Repair work reduces parking capacity at Ottawa Hospital General Campus by 200 spots

The Ottawa Hospital is advising patients and visitors heading to the General Campus to give themselves extra time, as repair work reduces the number of available spots in the parking garage.

The hospital says repair work will begin this month on the parking garage at the General Campus on Smyth Road.

“The repairs are expected to be ongoing until February 2027, and will reduce parking capacity by approximately 200 stalls, resulting in delays obtaining onsite parking,” the hospital said on its website.

“Drivers will need to allow extra time for their arrival and note that the repair work will require traffic control measures within the parking garage. To ensure safety, drivers must adhere to the directions of onsite traffic control technicians and/or signalized traffic control measures.”

The covered parking garage is one of four parking areas at the Ottawa Hospital General Campus. There is also surface parking beside the Critical Care Wing, limited spaces near the Rehabilitation Centre and parking meters at the main entrance.

The Ottawa Hospital collected $28 million in revenue from parking at the Civic Campus, General Campus and Riverside Campus during the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026, up from $27.6 million during the 2024-25 fiscal year.

Short-term parking rates at the Ottawa Hospital are $4.50 for 15 to 30 minutes, $8.50 for 30 minutes to one hour, $13 for one to one-and-a-half hours and a daily maximum of $16. The Ottawa Hospital also sells discounted patient and visitor parking passes, which include $56 for a seven-day pass and $40 for five non-consecutive days.
