Mild temperatures arrive for final day of skating on Rideau Canal Skateway

Ottawa residents took to the ice of the Rideau Canal Skateway for the final time this season. CTV’s Peter Szperling reports.

Ottawa skaters can enjoy a mild skate on the Rideau Canal Skateway today before the world’s largest skating rink closes for the season.

The National Capital Commission has announced the Rideau Canal Skateway will close for the season at 10 p.m. due to the mild temperatures in the forecast this week.

Environment Canada’s forecast calls for a mix of sun and cloud today. High 3 C.

It will be partly cloudy tonight. Low -7 C.

Thursday will be mainly cloudy with a high of 0 C.

Environment Canada says Ottawa will see mainly cloudy conditions on Friday with a 40 per cent chance of showers. High 5 C.

The outlook for Saturday calls for showers. High 9 C.

Sunday will have a mix of sun and cloud. High 7 C.

The normal temperatures for this time of year are a high of 0 C and a low of -9 C.
