Newstalk 580 CFRA News Writer and Announcer Chris Holski won the 2025 Canadian Radio Awards prize for the Best News Anchor or Reporter in a large market. “It’s an honour to have been selected,” Holski said in a statement to CTV News. “I do my best to keep people informed and entertained on a daily basis, and doing so isn’t possible without the hard work of every member of the team at CFRA, CTV News Ottawa and Bell Media Ottawa.” According to Broadcast Dialogue, presenter of the Canadian Radio Awards, the award is given to “an individual who demonstrates excellence in their ability to present news with clarity and credibility, including but not limited to live, breaking news, special events, and continuing coverage.” Ottawa’s MOVE 100 host Katherine Dines also received recognition from the awards, being named runner-up for Best On-Air Solo Host. MOVE 100 also earned recognition for its Community Hero Award program, which was named runner-up in the Sound of Success Award. The Sound of Success Award recognizes radio campaigns that demonstrate “how AM/FM Radio successfully contributed to business objectives, demonstrated by ROI, brand lift, and increased store or web traffic, in a local or national sales campaign.” Bell Media at the Canadian Radio Awards Bell Media’s Brad Gibb, regional program director for Windsor, Kitchener and London was runner-up for Program Director of the Year in a major market. Sarah Betts of Fredericton’s MOVE 106.9 was runner-up for the Young Broadcaster of the Year Award. Freddy Mac & Mark Roberts of Fredericton’s BOUNCE Radio 105.3 were awarded Best On-Air Team for a small market. Virgin Radio’s Earth Day Party was the runner-up for the Radio’s Community builder award.
