Premier Danielle Smith in Airdrie for health-care announcement

The City of Airdrie, which has a population of 93,957 according to its last census, is served by the Airdrie Community Health Centre. The province spent $8.4 million to renovate the facility, which expanded its capacity to about 20 treatment beds in September 2025.

Premier Danielle Smith and Adriana LaGrange, the minister of hospital and surgical health services will be in Airdrie on Monday for “a major step” to improve health care in that city.

The announcement is scheduled to take place at 10:30 a.m. at 2050 Southwinds Dr. S.W.

The provincial government’s news release, sent Sunday afternoon, does not have any further details, but the major projects website indicates two health-care projects on the books for Airdrie.

They include “a new urgent and primary care centre” and planning for a North Calgary/Airdrie Regional Health Centre.

There are no estimated costs or schedule listed for either proposal.

According to the City of Airdrie’s 2026 census, the population of the city north of Calgary has grown to 93,957.

The municipality is currently served by a single community health centre with approximately 20 treatment beds.
