Ontario Provincial Police say a 51-year-old man from Bancroft, Ont. is facing numerous charges following an online child sexual exploitation investigation involving multiple police services. The OPP said in a news release Thursday said search warrants were executed at residences in Bancroft and Phelpston, north of Barrie, during which several electronic devices were seized. One man was arrested. Vincent Noome is facing nine counts of luring a person under 16, one count of luring a person under 18, seven counts of making sexually explicit material available to a person under 16, and six counts of making child pornography available. The charges have not been proven in court. The accused remains in custody following a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on Thursday. The OPP said officers from the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit, the OPP Digital Forensics Unit, the Waterloo Regional Police Service, and the Barrie Police Service participated in the investigation, with assistance from members of the Huronia West OPP and Bancroft OPP detachments. “Parents are reminded to take a proactive approach to help protect their children from online sexual exploitation by speaking with their children regarding internet safety.
