12-year-old charged in connection with vape thefts in Petawawa, Ont.

Ontario Provincial Police say two children were involved in a recent break-and-enter in Petawawa that resulted in several vaping items being stolen.

Police responded to an alarm at a business on Petawawa Boulevard at around 2 a.m. on Dec. 13. There were signs of forced entry, and several vapes were stolen, according to a police news release.

On Tuesday, the OPP said a 12-year-old from Petawawa was charged with breaking and entering and three counts of theft under $5,000. The child cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The young person was released to a parent, and the accused will appear in Youth Court at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.

In addition, police said an 11-year-old was also implicated, but was not charged due to being below the age of criminal responsibility, which is 12.
