Woman found in house that did not belong to them with stolen property, Sault police say

Sault Ste. Marie police arrested a 32-year-old on Monday morning after responding to an active home break-in.

A 32-year-old woman faces break-and-enter and theft charges after police in Sault Ste. Marie say she was found inside a residence yesterday morning.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service said officers were called to the 0-100 block of Abbott Street around 10 a.m. on June 1 following a 911 report of a break-and-enter in progress.

Arrest, property recovery

Police said when officers arrived, the suspect was still inside the home.

“Officers located the accused inside the residence and they were arrested,” police said in a news release Tuesday.

“A search of the accused located property belonging to the victim.”

As a result, the accused has been charged with breaking and entering a dwelling house to commit an indictable offence, as well as theft.

She was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 24.
