Environment Canada has ended its Red Tornado Warning for Chatham-Kent. At 7:29 p.m. on Friday, the weather agency issued the warning at its highest alert level, indicating damaging winds, hail, and rainfall could be possible particularly in the Pain Court area. The locations listed by Environment Canada as being in the path were as follows: Chatham Chatham-Kent Ridgetown The impact level of the storms was rated as ‘extreme’ with the forecast confidence ‘very high’ according to the weather agency’s rating system. The storm moved quickly to the east at 65 km/h. Residents were advised to take cover immediately upon seeing threatening weather. Tornado warnings are issued when a thunderstorm is producing or is likely to produce a tornado. Only an Orange Heat Warning remains in place for the Chatham-Kent Rondeau Park area. Environment Canada had issued a Yellow Thunderstorm Watch for Chatham-Kent earlier in the evening.
