A black bear that wandered into East Vancouver on Friday has been tranquilized and relocated. The B.C. Conservation Officer Service told CTV News there were no reports of aggressive behaviour as the animal roamed for several city blocks. Officers were able to safely capture the bear near Vaness Avenue and Ormidale Street, where it was seen up a tree. “The bear was ear-tagged and will be relocated to a wilderness area far outside the city,” the BCCOS said in a statement. The animal was first spotted near Wellington Avenue and Rupert Street—an unusual sight that prompted a public warning from the Vancouver Police Department. The BCCOS thanked police for their help dealing with the incident. Witness video captured a police officer following the bear as it sniffed around a residential area, near a playground. Police initially described the animal as a cub, but conservation officers later confirmed it was an adult.
