Thunder Bay raid bust nets $20K in drugs, 2 guns

A drug trafficking investigation by the Thunder Bay Police Service has resulted in the seizure of illicit drugs and two firearms.

Police said the investigation led officers to search two homes on Finlayson Street on June 2.

“During the searches, suspected fentanyl, crack cocaine, cocaine and two guns were seized,” Thunder Bay police said in a news release on June 3.

Authorities said the estimated street value of the drugs seized is $19,755.

Three charged

As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old woman from Toronto and two local men, both 47, have been charged.

All three face two drug trafficking offences and a charge of possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime.

One of the local men faces additional weapon-related charges. Those include possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, and six counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order. He also faces four other firearm offences.

The accused facing the firearm offences was remanded into custody following his first court appearance.

The other two accused were both released and have future court appearances scheduled.
