Montreal police are investigating a shooting that sent a 19-year-old man in the hospital Tuesday night, while the suspect fled the scene. Police received several 911 calls around 10:40 p.m. reporting that a person had been shot near the intersection of Sherbrooke and Montcalm streets, in Montreal’s Ville-Marie borough. The victim was on the sidewalk before the suspect allegedly opened fire before fleeing the scene, police say. According to the police, the victim sustained serious upper-body injuries and remains in hospital, but his life is not in danger. An investigation is underway to find the suspect. Police say investigators will interview witnesses and review nearby camera footage to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting and why the victim was targetted.
