Southern Ont. men charged in $68K Sudbury drug bust

Two men from southern Ontario have been charged following an investigation into drug trafficking in Greater Sudbury that led to the seizure of $68,500 in drugs believed to be cocaine, fentanyl and meth.

Police originally arrested eight people when executing search warrants April 23 at residences on Ste. Anne Road and Louis Street.

“Upon searching the two individuals and the residence on Ste. Anne’s Road, detectives located and seized approximately 410 grams of cocaine, 255 grams of fentanyl, 20 grams of methamphetamine and $540 in cash,” Sudbury police said in a news release.

Four people released

“Detectives did not locate any drugs at the Louis Street residence, however, two of the individuals inside the residence were wanted on outstanding arrest warrants. The other four individuals were released unconditionally.”

The two southern Ontario men, ages 20 and 30, were charged with three counts of drug trafficking and one count each of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The men were also charged with failing to comply with a release order and one of them was charged with violating probation.

Both were scheduled to appear in bail court Thursday.
