Sault Ste. Marie library closes doors after 52 years

Sault Ste. Marie Library branch set to close WATCH: Sault Ste. Marie Library's Korah branch is set to close its doors for good at the end of the year.

Sault Ste. Marie — After half a century of having a library in the west end of Sault Ste. Marie, the Korah branch is set to close its doors for good at the end of the month.

Earlier this year, City Council denied the library board's request for more funding with the opening of the new north branch. With that result, the Korah branch had to close. All of the resources will now be spread between the downtown and the north location.

"The Korah branch has been open for 52 years so we're over half a century already… it has a long history and it has served its community well," said Matthew MacDonald, Sault Public Library CEO.

MacDonald says staff members will start splitting up the resources from the Korah branch in the New Year.
