Sault police, Crime Stoppers ask for help with Canada Day home robbery case

Crime Stoppers seeks help identifying a male who pushed a homeowner down stairs and struck them repeatedly over the head with a 2x4 during a robbery last year.

Sault police are asking for help identifying a suspect in a home robbery in the city last summer.

Crime Stoppers of Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District, in partnership with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, issued a plea for help on Friday and detailed the incident.

Crime Stoppers said the incident took place on Canada Day (July 1) in 2025 at a home on St Andrew’s Terrace.

“A male entered the residence where he attacked the homeowner by pushing them down a set of stairs and striking them several times over the head with a 2x4.,” Crime Stoppers said in a news release.

“The male suspect took a blue cattle knit sweater as he was fleeing the residence.”

Police have not said if any other items were taken from the home.

Appeal to the public

Crime Stoppers and police have released a description of the suspect and are requesting the public’s assistance with identifying him.

The man is described as 5’7” (170 cm) tall with a small or medium build.

Anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the suspects is asked to contact Sault police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
