A 29-year-old man has been charged with assault and other offences following an incident Aug. 4 at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre. The incident took place around 9:45 a.m. “The accused threw a cup of toilet water and urine at two employees,” Sault police said in a news release Aug. 7. “Officers attended the ATRC and arrested the accused.” Charges include two counts of assault and two counts of violating probation. Around 4:45 p.m. the same day, police said he again threw a cup of toilet water and urine at another employee. Police charged him Aug. 6 with assault with a weapon, assaulting a peace officer and failing to comply with a probation order. He remains in custody at the ATRC.
