An 18-year-old driver from Acton has been charged for a crash just outside of Guelph. Emergency responders were called, around 4 a.m. on Sunday, to the intersection of Jones Baseline and Eastview Road. There they found a vehicle stuck in a forested area. Ontario Provincial Police said they had to bring in chainsaws to remove it. “During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the driver had operated their motor vehicle while being distracted, rapidly entered into the intersection with no regard for other drivers or stop-signs, and landed into a nearby forested area, requiring chainsaws to free the vehicle,” they explained in a media release. The driver was not hurt. The 18-year-old was charged with careless driving and driving with a handheld communication device.
