Police confirm the remains of missing North Bay man have been found

North Bay police confirm remains found Feb 9 on Mulligan Street are those of a missing 62-year-old man last seen Jan 30. Death has been deemed suspicious.

The body found on Mulligan Street in North Bay earlier this week belongs to a missing man, ‘Pierre,’ who had not been seen since Jan. 30 and was reported missing Feb. 9.

Police confirmed the identity of the remains in what they have called a suspicious death.

An intensive search took place earlier in the week in the area of Mulligan Street, with a body being discovered Feb. 11. Police initially refused to confirm the person’s identity, saying only that the missing persons alert for Pierre was still in effect.

Police “extends its deepest condolences to Pierre’s family, friends and loved ones,” a news release Friday said.

Second suspicious death

“We recognize that this is an incredibly difficult time, and our thoughts are with everyone who knew and cared for him, as well as the broader community impacted by this loss.”

Another body was discovered Feb. 9 on Highway 11 North, but police have said they don’t believe the two cases are linked. That discovery has also been called a suspicious death.
