A man from Brampton has been charged with stunt driving on Highway 11/17 in northwestern Ontario, Nipigon Ontario Provincial Police said. The incident took place around 7:41 p.m. Sept. 30 when police were conducting radar checks. Police spotted “a silver Volkswagen Jetta on Highway 11-17, travelling 131 km/h in a 70 km/h zone,” the OPP said in a news release Oct. 1. The 29-year-old driver was charged with stunt driving, meaning an automatic driver’s licence suspension of 30 days and the vehicle is impounded for two weeks. “The driver is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date,” police said. “The OPP remains committed to taking aggressive drivers off our roads through enforcement and public education. If you suspect that someone is driving aggressively, it is important to call 911 to report it.”
