A 48-year-old man from Saint John has been charged with possession and transmission of child sexual abuse and exploitation material, according to New Brunswick RCMP. The RCMP’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit spearheaded the investigation, which began in May 2025 after information received from the RCMP’s National Child Exploitation Crime Centre. The RCMP’s ICE unit, digital forensic services, and local police executed a search warrant at a Saint John home on Sept. 11, 2025. “Police seized electronic devices as part of their investigation,” reads a news release on Thursday. That day, Shane Evan McCabe was arrested. He was then charged in Saint John provincial court on Tuesday with: McCabe is set to appear in court again on Oct. 20.
