North Bay resident returns home to find intruder inside

The second floor of a multi-residential building in North Bay was damaged in a fire Thursday morning. There were no injuries.

The North Bay Police Service is investigating a residential break-and-enter that occurred in the area of Douglas Street and Rose Avenue on Wednesday evening.

Police responded at 8:50 p.m. to a call after a homeowner returned to find an intruder inside their residence.

“The suspect fled the scene before police arrived,” police said in a news release Thursday.

“The home showed visible signs indicating that it had been searched by the intruder.”

The suspect is a white male in his 20s, about 5-foot-9 and was wearing glasses and a dark-coloured hat.

Police are hoping anyone with information -- especially video surveillance or dash cam footage from the area around the time of the incident – will call them at 705-497-5555 and select Option 5.
