North Bay police lay multiple charges after weekend weapons call

Police in North Bay have charged a 25-year-old local man following a weapons complaint area over the weekend. Police say officers seized edged weapons, ammunition and suspected crystal meth.

Officers responded to a report of a man with a knife in the 1000 block of Cassells Street at about 1 p.m. on April 26.

“The accused, who was bound by a firearms prohibition order and a probation order, was located and arrested without incident,” North Bay Police Service said in a release.

Search yields weapons, drugs

A subsequent search turned up additional edged weapons, ammunition and a quantity of suspected crystal methamphetamine.

“The quick and professional response by patrol members brought the situation under control, preventing escalation or further risk to public safety,” said Acting Insp. Jason Long.

Multiple charges

The accused faces charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, drug possession and disguise with intent.

He is also charged with failing to comply with a probation order and possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.

The man was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
