Greater Sudbury police seek man after two separate flights from police

Greater Sudbury police are asking for the public’s assistance to locate a 37-year-old man wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant related to two separate incidents involving vehicles fleeing from police.

Branden Lalonde is wanted on charges including dangerous operation, two counts of operation while prohibited, two counts of driving while under suspension, two counts of fail to comply with an undertaking and two counts of flight from a peace officer. He is also charged with three counts of disobeying a stop sign and for failing to stop at a red light.

First incident occurred on Larch Street

The first incident took place on Jan. 15, 2026, when officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle on Larch Street.

Police said officers activated their emergency lights due to concerns the driver may have been impaired.

“The driver of the vehicle did not stop for police and fled the scene in the vehicle, failing to stop at a stop sign and a red light,” the Greater Sudbury Police Service said in a new release Tuesday.

“It is believed that Branden Lalonde was the driver of the vehicle at the time of the incident.”

The police service noted that Lalonde is a prohibited and suspended driver and is also bound by conditions of an undertaking not to drive a vehicle.

Second incident in Capreol

Just six days later, on Jan. 21, police said officers again attempted to initiate a traffic stop with emergency lights activated, this time on a vehicle on Dennis Street in Capreol.

According to officers, the driver again failed to stop for police and fled the scene and also failed to stop at a stop sign. Police said they believe Lalonde was operating this vehicle as well.

“As a result of the two incidents, officers applied for and have been granted an arrest warrant for 37-year-old, Branden Lalonde,” police said.
