Three men stabbed in Montreal overnight, one dead

Montreal police are investigating the 25th homicide on the island in 2025 after a man was stabbed and killed in an altercation.

Tempers flared overnight Friday into Saturday at two licensed establishments on opposite ends of the Island of Montreal, where three people were stabbed. One of the victims has died, marking the 25th homicide in the city in 2025.

Around 2 a.m. Saturday, police were called to a stabbing following an altercation at a licensed establishment on Côte-des-Neiges Road, near Barclay Avenue.

Several 911 calls reported two men had been stabbed.

“The first victim is a 36-year-old man. He was conscious and had a lower-body injury caused by a sharp object. He was taken to hospital and is not in life-threatening condition,” said SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils.

The death of the second victim, a 48-year-old man, was confirmed by medical authorities, the SPVM said Saturday afternoon.

“According to preliminary information, a conflict between the victims and a suspect escalated and, afterwards, the suspect fled before police arrived,” Chèvrefils said.

Investigators were searching for surveillance cameras that may have captured the attack. The canine unit was also called to the scene to look for evidence, along with forensic identification technicians.

The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.

Another incident in Anjou

A 911 call at about 3:50 a.m. Saturday led emergency services to a young man lying on the street on des Ormeaux Street, near Georges Avenue.

The 24-year-old victim had an upper-body injury caused by a sharp object. He was conscious when taken to hospital and is now in stable condition, the SPVM said Saturday. He will be interviewed by investigators when his condition allows.

“According to preliminary information, the victim was injured during a conflict that escalated at a licensed establishment on Chaumont Avenue, near Baldwin Street,” Chèvrefils said.

No arrests have been made in the case.

“A perimeter was set up to protect the scene for investigators and forensic identification technicians so they could analyze it and try to determine the exact circumstances of the event. Checks will be made for possible surveillance cameras near the scene,” the SPVM spokesperson said.
