Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating a dramatic and violent scene in a Point-Saint-Charles park involving an assault with a hammer followed by a Jeep crashing into a building. Officers responded to a 911 call at around 12:30 p.m. on Friday about a fight in Marguerite Bourgeoys Park on Wellington Street. On scene, they found the 42-year-old man with upper body injuries police say was caused by a hammer. He was transported to the hospital and was conscious during transport. “According to our information, the suspect allegedly attempted to flee in a vehicle before crashing into a building,” said SPVM spokesperson Jeanne Drouin. The 21-year-old man was arrested and transported to a detention centre where he will meet with investigators. He was uninjured in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
