A cyclist is dead following a collision with two vehicles in Montreal’s Hochelaga neighbourhood. Montreal police (SPVM) received a 911 call at 3:40 p.m. and responded to the intersection of Notre-Dame East and Davidson streets. When officers arrived on scene, they found the cyclist, a 38-year-old man, on the ground. He was sent to hospital in critical condition, where he later died. According to preliminary information from witnesses, the cyclist was heading east on a dirt path next to the designated bike path when he approached Davidson Street and hit a vehicle. The cyclist then rolled over the front of the vehicle and was struck by a second vehicle that was heading north on Davidson Street, a police spokesperson said. The dirt road is often used by cyclists as a shortcut to cross Davidson Street, according to police. The two drivers involved in the collision were not hurt and are being questioned by investigators. Police have set up a perimeter in the area to allow the collision unit to conduct an investigation.
