Singer-songwriter Charlotte Cardin was crowned Female Artist of the Year at the 41st Victoires de la Musique, one of France’s most prestigious music awards. The Quebec artist was up against Aya Nakamura, Santa, and Vanessa Paradis in the category. “For a Quebecer who has just recently moved to Paris, I couldn’t have dreamed of a better welcome from the French,” she said when she went on stage to accept her award. After acknowledging the other finalists, the singer took the time to thank her audience. “It is you who have given me the place I have today,” she said. Charlotte Cardin also performed her song “Tant Pis Pour Elle” during the ceremony, which was held live at the Seine Musicale near Paris. The singer-songwriter is gradually winning over the French public and making more and more appearances. She was notably a mentor in the latest edition of “Star Academy” in France. However, she is not the first Quebecer to win a Victoire de la Musique award. Céline Dion, Isabelle Boulay, and Garou have all been honored in the past. This report by The Canadian Press was first published in French on Feb. 13, 2026.
