A friendly reminder that the Edmonton Fringe and Mural festivals are still well underway. Those were hyped up in last week’s article. They still exist, but they’re not getting their flowers in this article. Here’s what’s new this weekend: Edmonton Pride Parade and Trans March The Edmonton Pride Festival kicks off with a free, family-friendly march to celebrate the LGBTQ2S+ community. The parade begins in Churchill Square, winds through downtown and ends at Ice District Fan Park. Attendees can then enjoy live music, high-energy performances and a Pride-themed marketplace from 3 to 10 p.m. afterward. Parking instructions for downtown can be found on the City of Edmonton website. 2026 CPKC Women’s Open Edmonton’s Royal Mayfair Golf Club is hosting Canada’s National Women’s Open through this weekend. It’s the first time the city has seen the event since 2013. The river valley club is well-prepared ‘fore’ (get it) it. Pathways: Alegría! – Celebrating Latin American Culture Alegría – meaning joy – is coming to the University of Alberta Botanic Garden on Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. Attendees will experience folklore, dance, storytelling, a vendor market, regional cuisine and a finale concert celebrating the cultures of Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic and more. Regular garden admission is the cost of entry, and advance tickets are recommended. 2026 Edmonton Dragon Festival Friday is the first of the three-day Chinatown festivities. Kinistinâw Park on 96 Street will host championship lion dances, authentic cuisine, cultural performances and family-friendly entertainment. Edmonton Elks vs. Winnipeg Blue Bombers Football. Commonwealth Stadium. Country Night. The Elks are trying to keep the momentum going after breaking out of their two-game losing streak with last week’s win over the Toronto Argonauts. 97th running of the Canadian Derby The Century Mile Racetrack and Casino is home to some of the “best horse racing in western Canada” on Saturday. Gates open at 1 p.m. Make sure to bet the mortgage on three-year-old Javier, or “Red,” who is blind in one eye but “don’t know no different.” Rock N’ Gem Show West Edmonton Mall’s Ice Palace transforms into a tradeshow floor this weekend for this annual event. Ask anyone there – it rocks. Or it’s rocks. Admission is free, although the show collects donations for Edmonton’s Food Bank. ESO Outdoors The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra will perform at Legacy Park in Fort Saskatchewan this Saturday at 7 p.m., and at Beaumont’s Four Seasons Park on Sunday at 2 p.m. Attendees can expect music from classic Bach, Beethoven and Mozart works, with a bit of ABBA sprinkled in for good measure.
