Intelligence from the FBI led RCMP officers to arrest a teen in Montreal who may have been planning an attack on a school. The RCMP say that investigators had “reasonable grounds to fear that the suspect might commit crimes related to violent extremism.” “According to the alleged facts, the individual was planning an attack at a school in Montreal,” the RCMP said in a news release. “He is alleged to have used artificial intelligence in the potential planning of an attack and to have posted threatening messages on Telegram targeting various groups.” No charges have been filed yet, as the investigation is ongoing. The teen is expected to appear in Youth Court on Friday. The RCMP adds that anyone with information on suspected ideologically motivated violent extremism are welcome to call 514-939-8300 in Montreal or visit the RCMP’s website.
