Police are advising the public about the release of a high-risk sex offender in the New Glasgow, N.S., area, marking the second time they issued a notice for the same man in one year. New Glasgow Police say Matthew William Rozins, 43, has a criminal history that includes offences in multiple provinces. He has been convicted of offences in Ontario and Nova Scotia that include sexual assault, trespassing at night, indecent acts, assault, and criminal harassment. Rozins is also facing additional charges in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. He was released from the Northeast Nova Scotia Correctional Facility on Thursday under supervision. Police say in a news release he is in the New Glasgow area but may not intend to stay. He isn’t prohibited from being in the area, but as part of his release conditions, he is subject to several restrictions. Rozins is barred from being in the presence of youth under the age of 16 and he may not attend public parks, swimming areas, daycare centres, school grounds or playgrounds. “He must not seek, obtain, or continue employment, whether paid or volunteer, that would place him in a position of trust or authority with persons under the age of 16,” says New Glasgow Police. Rozins is also forbidden from possessing firearms and ammunition. He is set to appear in Dartmouth provincial court in September. For more Nova Scotia news, visit our dedicated provincial page
