Three charged in Sarnia after months-long investigation into assaults, confinement and threats

Three people have been charged as part of an investigation into multiple violent incidents in Sarnia between October 2025 and May 2026, according to police.

The investigation began after reports that two victims were subjected to a series of violent assaults, forcible confinement incidents, and ongoing threats.

Investigators confirmed that during October and November of 2025, two victims were assaulted and forcibly confined at a home on Russell Street in Sarnia. During one incident, police said one of the men allegedly entered the victim’s bedroom, prevented them from leaving, and assaulted them. Police also said one victim was shot in the face with what is believed to have been a BB gun.

Police have also learned that another man later attended the same home armed with a knife, threatened the victims, stabbed the bed near them, threw a table at one victim, and assaulted the other victim while making threats to kill them.

According to police, another violent incident happened on Jan. 11 at a home on Devine Street in Sarnia. Two men allegedly went to the home under the guise of apologizing for the previous assault before allegedly preventing the victims from leaving and violently assaulting them. During the assault, police said one victim was reportedly struck in the head with a cup.

As the investigation continued, police also received evidence of threatening Facebook Messenger communications allegedly sent to the victims in March and May of 2026. The messages contained repeated death threats directed toward both victims.

On May 22, multiple search warrants were used and led to the arrest of two people who were transported to police headquarters and held for bail.

A third person is still wanted by police, and an arrest warrant has been issued Michael Derek Williams, 41, who is facing 13 charges including forcible confinement, careless use of a firearm, and assault with a weapon.
