The Greater Sudbury Police Service says 33-year-old Brandon Gramling-McEwan was arrested at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at a Greater Sudbury Housing complex, following a police plea for assistance locating him earlier in the day. Gramling-McEwan was wanted in connection with a fatal tent fire on June 11 at the Energy Court encampment, which police previously ruled a homicide. A 41-year-old man was killed in the blaze. Gramling-McEwan is charged with first-degree murder, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of arson with disregard for human life, two counts of arson causing property damage and possession of incendiary materials. “Members of the Emergency Response Unit and K9 Unit arrested 33-year-old Brandon Gramling-McEwan at 744 Bruce Avenue,” police said in a news release Wednesday morning. “(He) was held in custody overnight.” Police said the accused is scheduled to make a bail court appearance on June 17 to answer to the charges.
