The deli and bakery sections of a Charlottetown grocery store have closed “due to the presence of rodents.” The chief public health office ordered the closures at the Atlantic Superstore on University Avenue on June 4. The office confirmed Tuesday the closures remain in effect. “This action was taken to protect public health. Rodent activity in food preparation and storage areas presents a risk of contamination, as rodents can carry bacteria and other pathogens that may compromise food safety,” it said in news release.
