New childcare spaces could open at Exeter and Bluewater Coast schools before year-end

School board officials say there will soon be more childcare options in Huron County.

School board officials in southern Huron County say there could soon be more local childcare options.

According to a notice sent home to parents, the board said a company has expressed interest in opening before-and-after-school childcare spaces at Exeter Elementary -- and Bluewater Coast Elementary in Hensall.

A previous childcare operator closed its programs back in September, citing a lack of early childhood educators.

The closure prompted a parent-led petition, demanding the school board start its own childcare service.

Board officials said they hope these new spaces will be available before the end of the school year.
