Police have released a startling video showing just how quickly things can go wrong on a wet road. The social media video, shared by Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Central Region, shows an orange Nissan Sentra hitting a patch of water and losing traction. Within a little over eight seconds, the vehicle is observed striking the barrier, swerving back across the road and colliding with a truck in another lane. Officers shared the footage as a reminder for drivers to slow down as fall weather brings more rain and wet road conditions. Standing water can cause a vehicle to hydroplane with little warning, leaving a driver less time to react. “It can happen in an instant,” police said in the Friday video. As the weather changes, road conditions can change just as quickly. OPP is asking everyone to slow down, pay attention to the conditions and leave themselves enough time to get where they’re going safely. “Your life can change in seconds,” police said. “No destination is worth risking your life.”
